Tree Following July 2021 - let's go round again

There I was in June being all excited by the plethora of quinces adorning Quince Major and Quince Minor.  Unlike a bird in the bush being worth two in the hand, a quince on the bush turns into several in the hand which at this time of year is not a good thing.

Yes, they, almost to a quince, dropped off.  Leaving this two quinces on Quince Major.
and this not too healthy looking one on Quince Minor.  I held my breath as I inspected it in case it blew away.

As I stood there, a little deflated I noticed.....

a bud.....

and then a flower.....

then another flower...................

I assume this is a reaction to the late frosts.  Both Major and Minor have had a blossom or two appear.  Will they become quincelets?

Time will tell.

(p.s. I hope the title has provided an ear worm, if not, find song then hum it constantly - I am not showing my age ...... much ......)

Thanks as ever to Squirrelbasket for stewarding this forest of followed trees.  More can be found here.

Stay safe and be kind.

  1. Pretty flowers. Bizarre year for weather!
I have to admit I had to look up your ear-worm suggestion. Although I know the Average White Band I don't recall that particular song. However, it made me think of Carly Simon's Coming Around Again so that will be my annoying ear-worm of the day instead...
Thanks for continuing your long vigil.
    All the best :)

  2. The story continues! Good luck little quincelets, even if they don't develop into fruit the flowers are very pretty.
