Southport Flower Show 2026

Southport Flower Show (20th - 23rd August 2026) has become a firm fixture on my 'must visit' show list. There are few better ways than spending a sunny couple of days in this town that I have visited for some years now and am very fond of.

I was lucky enough to be given a press pass, so I did not pay for my ticket but I am not under any obligation to write about the show and my words and opinions are as ever my own. I decided to drive up on the Saturday and stay over and spent a happy afternoon wandering around the town.

The sun shone and the sky was blue. All was good.

On Sunday morning I went straight to the show. It was quite a warm day, warmer than expected so I was glad I had my trusty hat and some sunblock. I love the show gardens at Southport.

They are a great mix of the whimsical,

the design conscious,

and the doable. I looked at this showgarden and found it immediately translateable to a garden space. You can take ideas from it and you can see how it might relate even in a smaller space.

This garden had the prices attached. I loved this, you would never see it at Chelsea but it meant I could think about the different elements and start to think realistically about what might be achieveable. This garden was not pretending to be more than it was: it was a selling opportunity and I liked this approach a lot.

This garden was celebrating the achievements of Sir Henry Segrave. Sir Henry set the first land speed record in 1926 reaching an amazing 152.33 mph on Ainsdale beach, Southport. He set three land and one water speed record and was the first person to hold at the land and water speed records at the same time. Sadly he died in 1930 whilst attempting a further water speed record.
