A visit to Hidcote Gardens Sculpture Exhibition

It seems like a while since I have visited an outdoor sculpture exhibition, which is a shame as I do really enjoy them.  I received an invitation to attend a private view (get me!) of the new sculpture exhibition at Hidcote.

There was no way I was going to miss going and despite it nearly being called off because there were high winds forecast that day.  Anyhoo, a spit of rain soon gave way to a lovely sunny evening.  The light was just perfect for enjoying the sculptures.

and I did enjoy them.  They were perfectly set into this very special garden.

Hidcote is a perfect blend of vistas and planting, and whilst this view usually works because is it an avenue of green, the sculptures did not detract from this,
and drew me up towards the gate.
There are over 200 sculptures set throughout the garden.  It was great fun making sure I saw them all.  I think I saw them all.
Though I did reflect at times that some of the greatest sculptures are always in the garden.  This tree is a sculpture in itself.

Did I mention how wonderful the light was?  Nature is hard to beat.

and I did make sure I did not focus solely on the sculptures, the garden has to be enjoyed especially as it felt like I had the garden almost to myself most of the time.
I did my usual 'which ones would I like to buy' thinking.  I loved this hare.
and this dove.  It is begging to be touched.
Some made me look up,
and some made me look down and smile.
and some just made me think 'in my dreams my garden would look like this'.
Some of the exhibits are in the house.  I have never been in the house before so that was very exciting.
This is such a great table.
I loved this tree with a message....
an important message.
I had to take a photo out of the window, I was having a 'Lawrence Johnson looked out on his garden from here' moment.

I loved my visit, there are over 200 sculptures of all sorts of different styles and sizes.

The exhibition is open until 2nd November.

Take care and be kind.
