Suddenly the button has been pressed, the all systems go button. I can't decide if its the opening sequence of Stingray or Thunderbirds...... actually its Stingray, when I think about this properly I think that Stingray was really my favourite and if you have no idea what I am wobbling on about then google it and Gerry and Sylvia Anderson. Where was I ...... oh yes, all systems go.
The Conservatory has been emptied of all the tender plants. They have been released into the garden. I say released, they are still fairly close to the door just in case but the long range forecast looks like it is above 4 deg so we should (should) be ok.
I love this moment. I love having the conservatory back as it is a no-go zone when full of plants. The conservatory is very small and the plants are many. I love seeing the space again, I love having the usable space again though the winter-use is vital for my tender plants to keep them alive. Most have got through alive, which is always good. I lost a couple from poor watering though I really do try and to keep on top of it. Most did need a good water which perked them up quite quickly.
The plants moved outside all got a good water even though rain was due. I needed to get them primed for the rain. Some of the plants still inside also needed a good water as some were in the hard to reach back corner of the room. The picture above is not all the plants, this was taken mid-moving. There is also the tray of nearly dead plants. Ones that are definitely coughing but might, with a bit of luck, just about pull through. One already is showing some signs of improvement so I live in hope.
The begonias have nearly all moved outside, they love the summer outdoors; as do the Sparmannia and the Brrugmansia. The musa and ensete are now outside and enjoying having water restored to them. I am a bit worried that one of the musa might have died but I have watered it and whispered words of encouragement to it.
So here we are: all systems go. How exciting!
