The new year has arrived and with it all the hopes that a new year usually brings are dulled by the sadness and worries of the pandemic.
Out in the garden the quince trees, Major and Minor are oblivious to all this and are pretending to be asleep. It is the time of the year when they are at their most quiet. Yet even in their 'sleep' I can see signs of where the buds are starting to consider Spring. They are not really asleep, like Looby Loo (c'mon, you know who that is - sigh - ok, see here) they pretend to be asleep when Andy Pandy and Teddy are around. Once the coast is clear they get up to all sorts of mischief. Here there is the slightly blurry game of 'catch a rain drop' taking place.and here the ancient art of leaf balancing is being practiced. Oh they are tricksy ones these Quince brothers.Their neighbour the Medlar waggles its last shrunken medlar at them. In honesty I don't know if this is to encourage or taunt them. I am not sure they know either....Soon the season will start to move into Spring and the trees will drift into action also seamlessly. Will there be quinces I hear you ask?
Time will tell.
More followed trees can be found here under the stewardship of SquirrelBasket.
Stay safe all and be kind.
Lovely to see life goes on in the quince garden!
ReplyDeleteAnd I am old enough to remember Looby Loo - black and white version.
To be honest, I always found Andy Pandy a little bit creepy!
Take care, stay safe :)
I was never sure about Andy Pandy either 😀
