Plant of the Month April 2026 - Tulips

It was not an easy choice deciding this month's plant of the month.  There are a couple of candidates making their presence known in the garden, but working on the principle of what have I photographed the most (a good measure), then the tulips have won hands down.

There are many many different types of tulips and I grow quite a few different ones.  I could just say it is all tulips that are the plant of the month and that would be nice and easy.  I could use several different photos and all would be good.  I decided I needed to be more granular, more precise.  I need to be clear which tulips I have totally fallen head of heels in love with.  Dear Reader I present to you: Tulip Gudoschnick.
This is a fabulous tulip.  It is the first season I have grown this one and it has stolen my heart.  It is a flouncy-flounce of a tulip: multi-petalled and almost peony-like in flower.  It comes in shades of red, gold and yellow.  It also has a fabulous name - a good reason on its own to choose it.

I planted them in the front garden and it has done nothing but please.  I am finding it hard to walk down the garden path without stopping to admire one or other of them.
I have no idea if it will return next Spring, sometimes tulips take a year out to regroup and consider their options.   I am therefore intending to buy more for next year.  I think en-masse they will look nothing short of stunning.

Time will, of course, tell.

Take care and be kind.
