There are two favourite things in my garden. Actually there are more favourite things in my garden than not-favourite things, but for the purposes of this post there are two specific favourite things.
There is my beloved Whitby Arch, gifted to me some years ago now and my beloved Mme Alfred Carriere rose that climbs upon it. A marriage made in heaven without a doubt.
But, my dear readers, the arch is starting to show its age a bit and needs a tighten up (don't we all). Its joints have come a little lose so needs some work but Mme C needs cutting back before this can happen. I have been thinking about doing this for weeks, but did not want to start whilst the rose was in full growth. I wanted to wait until the time of year when I usually do a bit of a rose prune.
The weather set fine, the whim was upon me and so were the loppers. It was time to get cutting back.Sometime later and the arch is revealed and there is a huge pile of rose and....
a happy Esme. Now I need to get on and actually fix the arch which I think I need a bit of help with. I was struggling to actually tighten the bolts so I will get someone to help me.
Work in progress as they say......
Take care and be kind.
