The Succulent Table Summer 2025

Last year I developed a bit of a succulent habit.  I have always had a couple, but suddenly I had a buying spree.  Nothing massively expensive, (you must know this of me by now), but I did pickup some rather lovely plants.

Do I refer to them as my pretties? Oh yes.

Did I keep a note of all the names?  Don't be daft.

Anyhoo.... some of then I have.

This is Echeveria 'Red Sea Monster', a recent addition to the table.  I think she is very beautiful.
This is Aeonium 'Marnier Lapostelle' and I have to say this is one of my very favourites.  I cannot even really articulate why, just when I look at her I know she is very special.
This is a young Agave americana 'Mediopicta Alba' because some succulents are spiky.
Also spikey is Agave '
Kichiokan', I am very fond of this one as well. I am very fond of all of them, but this one always raises a smile - just look at the wonderful red spikes.
This is my Agave americana variegata, this one gets fussed over most of all as I cannot say that it convinces me it is thriving. It is very slow growing, very, and I sometimes wonder if it is growing at all. I am currently in the habit of checking it every day willing a new leaf to unfurl.
Some of my aeoniums remind me of times.  I bought this one from Lullingstone Castle many many many moons ago.  I take cuttings often to keep it going.  It is tough as old boots as it takes so easily from cuttings and every year I have kept it going is another year I am happy.

Some are different types and yet look so, so alike.  Funnily enough I can see the differences better here now I have photographed them then I have realised when looking in real life, but let's face it, they are very similar.
and this is mMangave Mad about Mangave ® 'Praying Hands' PBR which I was gifted last year by Thompson and Morgan.  This is not a super fast grower, but then I always think that succulent growing is not about speed, they do tend to play the long game,
but you can see how much it has grown in the last year and it is shaping up to be a fantastic plant.  I am more fond of it than is reasonable.
Oh and look, some are even having pups.  This is very exciting.

The succulents summer outside and when the temperature starts to drop at night I will bring them all into the conservatory to keep them safe.  I don't think I lost any last winter and this is something I want to replicate again and again.  I just have to try and not buy too many more as frankly I haven't the space (yet when has that ever stopped me!).

Take care and be kind.
